 PREFACE
                    
    Thanks to the presence of God Almighty for His grace and guidance so that I can finish the tasks subjects in English with the title "The Noun Phrase" (countable-uncountable nouns) "as well as the extent of the knowledge and capabilities.
    And we also thank Mrs. Ani Pajrini S.Pd as Lecturer subjects of English I, which has given this task to us. This task collated aims to fulfill the task of English in education at Islamic High School (STAI) Yayasan Nurul Islam (Yasni) Muara Bungo.
    We realize that there are still many shortcomings and limitations in the presentation of this paper. Therefore, we expect criticism and constructive suggestions for the perfection of all the readers of this paper. Hopefully this paper useful and to increase knowledge of the reader.

CHAPTER I  
 INTRODUCTION


A.ISSUE BACKGROUND
    English is the international language. Some countries even have English as a second language as the state language. English has become a language that can help us to interact with the international community, ranging from business to cultural exchange. One of the most important areas of learning that is learning about grammar that includes several things. One of them is the noun phrase.
      In English, the noun can have a series of descriptive words. The circuit is usually placed before the noun. Explanatory words are called modifiers. This modifier can be only one, it could be more than one.
Noun Phrase for understanding itself or phrase Benda said, is a noun which face a series of explanatory words; a set of words that core noun.
   

 B. FORMULATION OF THE PROBLEM
1.      What is the noun phrase?
2.      What is included in the count and Non count nouns?
3.      How to use the word much /many, etc  in the count and Non count nouns?
C. PURPOSE
      1.  In order to know about definitions the noun phrase
      2.  In order to know about count and Non count nouns
      3. In order to know about use the word much /many etc ,in the count and Non  
            Count nouns

                                                  DISCUSSION

A.    DEFINITION OF THE NOUN PHRASE
         Phrase or in the indonesian language, called with a set words that are not composed of subject and object.
         Noun is a word denoting substance, plan, place, animal, person or something which is considered as a substance.
         The noun phrase is the composition of words and adjective noun.
                                          LA+DA+N
LA=Limiting Adjective
DA=Descriptive Adjective
N=Noun
 Example: An   old   house
                 Much  sugar
                  A      student
          Adjective is a word used to describe Noun be formed string of noun phrase. Adjective is generally divided into 2. That "Limiting Adjevtive" and "Descriptive Adjective
        Limiting Adjective
Members of the limiting adjective divided from :
1. Article :a/an
2. demonstrative adjective: this,that
3. possesive: my, your, their, our, her, his dan it
4. indefinite quantity: Many / Much, Few / Little, Some / Any
5. numeral: first, second,one,two           
Descriptive Adjective:Beautiful,cold,old,etc

        The noun have which is based on two forms CONCRET NOUN AND ABSTRACT NOUN
1.      CONCRET NOUN                                                                                               
Concret noun is tangible noun or real noun,there are 4 types of concret noun
a.       PROPER NOUN
Proper noun is a noun that is capitalized is the name of a city and people
Example: Jakarta, Bali, Jhon, Bedul, etc
b.      COMMON NOUN
Common nouns are nouns of usual
Example: Teacher, Book, Pen, Milk, Sugar, etc
c.       MATERIAL NOUN
Material noun is a noun that consists of raw materials
Example: Gold, Silver, Oil, etc
d.      COLLECTIVE NOUN
Collective noun is a noun that has a plural meaning
Example: Class, Committee, etc
2.      ABSTRACK NOUN
Proper noun is a noun which we can’t see that
Example: Live, Friendship, Faith

B.COUNT AND NON-COUNT  NOUNS
         In terms of its number, noun divided into two,COUNT AND NON-COUNT  NOUNS
a.       COUNT NOUN
Count noun is a noun that can be calculated
Example: cat, baby, bag, table, chair, pen, glass, book,etc
b.      NON-COUNT NOUN
Non-count noun is a noun that can’t be calculated

Example: water, sugar, cheese, tea, coffee, money, love, rice,etc

      The following are some notes about count and non-count nouns
1.      Many/Much
      Many and Much have the same meaning. Usually used to express the number in the count and non-count nouns. Many used to count noun that precedes a noun, and Much used to non-count noun.
Example:
·         Count noun
ü  I haven’t got many pens
ü  How many years have you lived in semarang?
·         Non-count noun
ü  I haven’t got much rice
ü  She didn’t have much fun at the La Piaza

2.      Few/Little
      Few and Little have the same meaning. Few used to count noun that precedes a noun, and Little used to non-count noun.
Example:
·         Count noun
ü  I’ve got a few dollars
ü  The party has attend by a few men
·         Non-count noun
ü  There is only a little milk on the table
ü  I’ve got a little money
3.      Fewer/Less
      Fewer and Less have the same meaning. Fewer used to count noun that precedes a noun, and Less used to non-count noun.

ü  This kind of job will give you fewer dollars
ü  Fewer birds came this year
·         Non-Count Noun
ü  He pays me less money than i thought
ü  Doctors recommend eating less salt
4.      Number/Amount
      Number and Amount  have the same meaning. number used to count noun, and Amount used to non-count noun.
·         Count noun
ü  My teacher gives me a large number of assignment
ü  We have been friends for a number of years
·         Non-coun noun
ü  My tacher gives me a large amount of homework

A.CONCLUSION
        From the discussion of this paper we can take the conclusion,          1.The noun phrase noun phrase is the composition of words and adjective noun, consisting of Limiting Adjective,Descriptive Adjective and  Noun.
2.Based on the number of its,noun divided into two: count and  non-count     nouns.
    Count noun is a noun that can be calculated
    Example: cat,house,table,etc
                Non-count noun is a noun that can’t be calculated
                 Example: water, sugar, cheese,etc
3.-Many/Much: Many used to count noun that precedes a noun,and
     much used to non-count noun.
   - Few/Little: Few used to count noun that precedes a noun,and
           and Little used to non-count noun.
        - Fewer/Les: Fewer used to count noun that precedes a noun,and
             Less used to non-count noun.
               - Number/Amount: number used to count nount, Amount used to non   
                   Count noun.
B.ADVICE
        Realizing that the author is still far from perfect, the future will be more focused and writers in explaining details about the paper above the source - the source of more that can be accounted.
